Wyatt Neumann has passed away.
While riding his motorcycle yesterday, the New York-based photographer and father suffered a brain aneurysm causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Fans and fellow photographers took to social media to express their sympathy, some even referring to him as a mentor and a brother.
In 2014, Neumann came under fire for releasing a series of images that focused on his 2-year-old daughter during a road trip. The photos were taken in various locations throughout the journey, and showed the child in either a princess dress or nothing at all. Critics condemned the work as perverted and even pornographic, which ultimately led Facebook and Instagram to shut down his accounts.
Neumann and others felt this was a form of censorship, so he responded to the backlash with one of his most famous exhibits called “I FEEL SORRY FOR YOUR CHILDREN — The Sexualization of Innocence in America.”
"When I decided to do the show I was so upset and I was like, You know what? I think this is beautiful," he told the Huffington Post. "I'm going to show these to the world the way that I saw them when I took them. I'm going to put them in beautiful frames on beautiful walls in a beautiful gallery."
As of now, there are few details regarding Neumann’s passing. However, friends and relatives have started the Wyatt Neumann Family Fund to help support his loved ones following his death.
