A new video that is reportedly the work of insanely extreme terrorist group ISIS apparently shows the beheaded body of one of their captives, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto. Goto has been the subject of hostage negotiations over the past few weeks along with Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kaseasbeh, who is not mentioned in the English-language video.
Goto, who was 47, left Japan last year to report on Syria. He is survived by his wife, Rinko, and an infant daughter. "Syrian people [have been] suffering for three years and a half. It's enough. So I would like to get the story of what ISIS wants to do," Goto said in October 2014.
The video was released today by Al Furqan Media, ISIS's media wing, but CNN has been unable to authenticate it. A man with a British accent gives a lecture to the government of Japan in the video. Unfortunately, we have a feeling this one is just as real as the videos of James Foley, Steven Sotloff, Alan Henning and David Haines.
